Chad Hunter (GCM): "In this beautifully stencilled trick film (Pathé catalogue # 1264), clearly influenced by Georges Méliès’ Le Portrait spirite (1903), a charlatan brings to life the figurines reproduced in a magic album displayed in front of a rich marquis. This film was preserved by Heather Olson (United States), graduate student of the L. Jeffrey Selznick School of Film Preservation (now entering its 9th academic year) and co-recipient of the 2003 Technicolor Creative Services / Film Preservation Fellowship." – Chad Hunter (GCM)
