Leonard Maltin has written on his hugely readable website a column with the headline "Hollywood Goes to War" about the abundant World War II archive that The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has opened on its website. Many top Hollywood artists made a tremendous contribution to the war effort, including John Ford, who interrupted his Hollywood career which had just risen to its most fruitful stage in 1939. His and others' contributions are on display on The War Film Collection site.
