Bologna: Il Cinema Ritrovato, 25 June - 2 July, 2011

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, 25 June 2011.

It feels bizarre again to be on my way to Bologna's Il Cinema Ritrovato on Midsummer Holiday, but what can one do with programming as great as this:
PIAZZA MAGGIORE - the latest big restorations such as The Thief of Bagdad and America, America.
HOWARD HAWKS - his complete surviving silent oeuvre, selected 1930s works, and the restored Gentlemen Prefer Blondes
CONRAD VEIDT from Caligari to Casablanca
AT THE HEART OF THE 20TH CENTURY: SOCIALISM IN THE CINEMA
ALICE GUY: A Tribute to a Pioneer of the Cinema
BORIS BARNET: Poetic Visions of Everyday Life
THE CHAPLIN PROJECT: A. Edward Sutherland
RECOVERED AND RESTORED
SEARCHING FOR THE COLOR OF THE FILM
100 YEARS AGO: THE FILMS OF 1911
HOMAGE TO MAURICE TOURNEUR
ERIC ROHMER, THE DOCUMENTARIST
ALBERTO CAPELLANI: A Cinema of Grandeur
LUIGI ZAMPA: Civilian Laughter
NON SOLO DIVE: WEBER, NELSON, MUSIDORA
