L’innamorata di Cretinetti chiede un regalo. Il nostro eroe prima pensa a un mazzo di fiori, ma un gruppo di amici glielo porta via. È poi la volta di un servizio di piatti, che finisce però per sfracellarsi giù per le scale. Compra allora un pianoforte, ma gli si raduna intorno una folla di persone e Cretinetti finisce per essere ficcato dentro lo strumento.

The lady that loves Cretinetti asks him for a gift. Our hero firstly thinks of a bunch of flowers, but a group of friends take it away. Then he chooses a set of dishes that end up shattered down the stairs. He then buys a piano but a crowd of people surrounds him and Cretinetti ends up being shoved inside the instrument.

Cretinetti è tutto lieto di assistere ad un combattimento di galli, ma ben presto la solita prepotenza sua lo fa cacciare dalla sala dello spettacolo. Giunge egli dinanzi a un teatro: una rappresentazione di Chanteclair è allora finita. Cretinetti ne è informato, ma egli non si unisce al coro di applausi che saluta gli artisti al loro passaggio: chi solo può bene incarnare il tipo di Chanteclair è lui. Ma la sua mania fa ben presto fuggir spaventati artisti e spettatori, e il nuovo gallo improvvisato disturba il mercato e mette lo sgomento tra il numeroso pollame.

Cretinetti is very pleased to be watching a cockfight but soon his usual overbearing manner has him thrown out of the hall. He arrives in front of a theatre: a performance of Chanteclair has just ended. Cretinetti is informed of this but he does not join in the applause that welcomes the artists as they pass: the only one who can embody Chanteclair is he. But his obsession soon has artists and spectators running away frightened and the new cockerel suddenly disturbs the market and upsets the poultry.

Cretinetti trova la propria fidanzata e i genitori di lei molto preoccupati per l’arrivo dei facchini che devono occuparsi del loro trasloco, ma lui li rassicura, congeda i facchini e promette di risolvere personalmente il problema. E infatti se ne occupa, a modo suo. L’ultima delle sue preoccupazioni è l’integrità del mobilio che deve traslocare, per cui ogni oggetto è scagliato fuori dalla finestra o giù per le scale con una rapidità che è certamente maggiore di quella usata dai normali facchini. Il ciclone degli oggetti precipitati per le scale travolge passanti e condomini.

Cretinetti finds his fiancée and her parents very worried about the arrival of the porters that should move their furniture, but he reassures them that he will personally resolve the problem. An indeed he does in his own way. The last of his worries is the integrity of the furniture that must be moved, so that every object is thrown out of the window or down the stairs at a faster speed than any normal porter. The cyclone of falling objects knocks over passers-by and residents.

IL NATALE DI CRETINETTI Italia, 1911

Invitato a una festa di Natale, Cretinetti si reca a casa dalla fidanzata. È carico di numerosi regali, di un albero di Natale, di un fucile e di un cavallo di legno. In strada urta un postino, anche lui carico di pacchi. I pacchetti si confondono, Cretinetti ne raccoglie uno contenente tre bottiglie: etere della paura, etere dell’allegria, etere della collera. Dopo una difficile salita delle scale, Cretinetti arriva al luogo del ricevimento: si scontra con il maggiordomo e, nella caduta, i flaconi di etere si rompono. I vapori si diffondono nell’ambiente. Cretinetti mima in successione gli effetti dei tre prodotti. Poi balla, si arrabbia e si scontra con gli altri invitati finendo così per rovesciare la tavola. A loro volta, prima il padre, poi la fidanzata e quindi le altre donne e gli invitati manifestano gli stessi sintomi. Tutti ridono poi si prendono a botte… La copia è incompleta, dal momento che, secondo certe fonti, il film terminava – come sembra ovvio – con un’immagine di Cretinetti che usciva dalle macerie per augurare buon Natale agli spettatori.

Invited to a Christmas party, Cretinetti goes to his fiancée’s house. He is loaded with many presents, a Christmas tree, a rifle and a wooden horse. In the street he bumps into a postman who is also loaded with gifts. The packets get mixed up and Cretinetti picks up one containing three bottles: ether of fear, ether of mirth and ether of anger. After a difficult climb up the stairs, Cretinetti arrives at the reception: he bumps into the butler and in the fall the ether bottles break. The fumes spread out. Cretinetti mimics a succession of effects of the three products. Then he dances, gets angry and he knocks into the other guests ending up overturning the table. Then, first the father, then the fiancée and then the other women and guests manifest the same symptoms. They all laugh and then fight...The copy is incomplete, as according to some sources, the film ended – as seems obvious – with a shot of Cretinetti climbing out of the ruins to wish the spectators a happy Christmas.
