Juno

Juno / Juno. US / CA / HU (c) 2007 Twentieth Century Fox. P: Lianne Halfon, John Malkovich, Mason Novick, Russell Smith. D: Jason Reitman. SC: Diablo Cody. DP: Eric Steelberg - negative 35 mm (Kodak Vision2 200T 5217, Vision2 Expression 500T 5229) - digital intermediate: 2K EFilm - print 35 mm 1:1,85. Music editor: Nick South - an excellent soundtrack compilation. Starring: Ellen Page (Juno MacGuff), Michael Cera (Paulie Bleeker), Jennifer Garner (Vanessa Loring), Jason Bateman (Mark Loring), Allison Janney (Bren MacGuff), J.K. Simmons (Mac MacGuff). 96 min. Released in Finland by FS Film, Finnish /Swedish subtitles by Janne Mökkönen / Ditte Kronström. Viewed at Tennispalatsi 6, Helsinki, 1 Feb 2008. The protagonist is a 16-year old girl who gets pregnant. What follows is constantly interesting, surprising, humoristic, offbeat, responsible, and poignant. Including the cast of characters who are not stereotypical. I liked the director Jason Reitman's Thank You for Smoking, and this is further confirmation of talent. I'm also looking forward to further work by the screenwriter Diablo Cody, she is in possession of wit. Too bad about the digital intermediate.
