OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS: "Pamela Tolan ohjaama ja yhdessä Karoliina Lindgrenin ja Aleksi Bardyn kanssa käsikirjoittama komedia Teräsleidit – kuin viimeistä päivää (2025) on vapaata jatkoa hänen vuonna 2020 valmistuneelle elokuvalleen Teräsleidit. Palvelutalossa asuva Inkeri (Leena Uotila) kuulee lääkärinsä puhuvan lyhyestä jäljellä olevasta elinajasta. Hänelle tulee kiire lähteä etsimään vanhaa, kadonnutta käsikirjoitustaan, ja mukaan vauhdikkaalle automatkalle halki Suomen lähtevät sisar Raili (Seela Sella) ja tämän kotiavuksi palkkaamansa Kerttu (Sanna-Kaisa Palo). Matkan varrelta tarttuu mukaan myös Matti (Eero Saarinen). Inkerin stressaantunut tytär Maija (Pirjo Lonka) alkaa omalla tahollaan järjestää äidilleen saattohoitoa."

AA: Pamela Tola's Teräsleidit – kuin viimeistä päivää is a sequel to her hit comedy Teräsleidit / Ladies of Steel (FI 2020) which had a memorable tagline, "Go when it is already too late", and slogan: "age is hardly even a number". 

It was a wild and irreverent entry to the cinema's legacy of nasty women and La vieille dame indigne / The Shameless Old Lady (René Allio, FR 1965), based on Bertolt Brecht's story "Die unwürdige Greisin" (1939).

In the sequel, Finland's shameless old ladies are on the loose again, acting terribly and wreaking havoc everywhere they go. Again, it is a road movie. Saara Pakkasvirta is not on board this time. A newcomer is Kerttu (Sanna-Kaisa Palo). The main lady is Inkeri (Leena Uotila), accompanied by her cool sister Raili (Seela Sella). Inkeri's daughter Maija (Pirjo Lonka) is a nasty woman in a second generation. A man, Matti (Eero Saarinen) joins the trio of old ladies as a driver. He stays with Inkeri. 

The subtitle "kuin viimeistä päivää" ("like there is no tomorrow") has a special meaning in a story like this.

The comedy concept is about the premature preparations for Inkeri's funeral, based on a misunderstood statement by a doctor. The comic highlight is Maija's reaction when she learns that her mother is not dying after all. Before that we are treated to a scene of Maija and her family selecting funeral music while the old ladies are participating at a forest rave. They are not funeral enthusiasts anyway.

The sequel is not as gross as the original. Again Inkeri is racing against time trying to find a lost manuscript. Meanwhile, she has debuted as a writer, having published her manuscript "The Free Girl" about her radical youth. The work of autofiction has deeply offended the nearest circle, especially Maija.

Now Inkeri is desperately trying to find the manuscript for the follow-up. Maija engages a lawyer to prevent her from publishing it.

Beyond the farce, there is the great theme of the deceptiveness of memory. Inkeri does not have a memory disorder, but during the trip she constantly faces the fact that she misremembers things, even very important ones. In contrast, her lawyer sister Raili remembers everything and does not hide it.

A performance-driven movie, Teräsleidit – kuin viimeistä päivää is based on great comedy performances by the excellent female cast. Men remain bystanders in the saga of matriarchy.
